Hi, I’m Chuck Layton, the young, good-looking guy in the upper right corner! I’ve been a United Methodist Pastor since 1987, serving several churches in Iowa. When my brother David (Dave, Bingo) suggested this blog, I was intrigued. He told me several very astounding things about Fungi, and how he relates them to faith. He then challenged me to join him in writing here. Well, who am I to pass on such an intriguing idea!

I’m 62, single, and have a cat. I currently serve at Waterloo First United Methodist Church. For a year, now, we’ve been out of the building. For a short time we worshiped in the parking lot, which was a lot of fun, until the weather got cold. The people in their nice warm cars didn’t mind but standing on the fire escape with the wind and rain whipping around me, I wasn’t too comfortable. Hmm, I seem to remember that Methodism’s founder, John Wesley would ride horse-back through rain and snow and mud in order to preach in a field in all sorts of weather. I might have to re-think my aversion to my nose getting cold.

Anyway, I love learning and so please join David and me as we discuss Faith and Fungi!
