If God’s hand is at work in the Universe, His fingers certainly attach to mycelium (the threads of fungal life in substrate). The complex and fascinating interactions between fungi and the other inhabitants of the biosphere demonstrate how even the most humble life forms are filled with purpose. That purpose radiates outward to our own human lives. Faith and Fungi is an exploration of the shared purpose of fungi, human and all life which is to celebrate the magnificence of creation – even in it’s most humble forms, and to glorify our Creator.

This blog is a series of conversations between brothers, Rev. Charles Layton a Methodist minister and Dave Layton a long time amateur mushroom enthusiast and fairly recent convert to Christianity. We’ll discuss connections between fascinating aspects of nature and spiritual truths, beliefs and even some controversies. Join us as we look both inward and outward to explore a world without end.

Recipe’s and pictures will accompany some blogs including amazing mushroom photos (like the one on this page) by our friend Jim Frink, one of the Midwest’s finest mushroom photographers.
